Certified Aesthetic Dermatology Technician®

Course Overview:

Certified Aesthetic Dermatology Technician program is a registered and copyrighted program, designed by the BC Academy of Medical Aesthetics & Skin Care. It includes study of several aesthetic and medical skin conditions and lesions. Students will learn how to apply different devices and techniques for several kind of skin lesions. Students will be familiar with most common skin disorders. This training program will enable the graduates to diagnose most frequent skin problems and deal with those ones that can be treated in a Medical Aesthetics office setting. Students will be able to advise their clients for further follow up with appropriate physicians. Upon completion of this program the graduates will be ready to assist their clients for the treatment of skin lesions, dry skin, oily skin, deep cleansing and pore extraction and the diet and nutrition involved in healthy skin. Upon completion Aesthetic Dermatology Technicians will be able to operate laser and IPL machines for hair removal, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation treatment and spider veins removal. Students will learn how to do full facial treatment using microdermabrasion, ozone therapy, steaming, high frequency and radio frequency devises.

Medical and Aesthetic Dermatology: Study of most common skin diseases and imperfections including Acne, Alopecia, Atopic Dermatitis, Bed bugs bite and skin rashes, Collagen, Elastin, and Hyaluronic Acid, Dry Skin, Eczema, Folliculitis, Freckles, Fungal Infection, Heat Rashes, Herpes Zoster, Herpes Simplex, Hyperhidrosis, Hyperpigmentation, Ingrown Hairs and Nails, Melanoma, Melasma, Moles, Oily skin, Psoriasis, Scars: Hypertrophic and Keloid, Skin Tags, Stretch marks, Sun damage spots, Vitiligo, Warts, Wrinkle and laxing of skin

Prerequisites:

Medical and / or Aesthetician background is highly desirable. However, at least a high school Diploma is necessary.

Certificate:

Graduates will write a exam at the end and receive a certificate from the BC Academy of Medical Aesthetics & Skin Care within a week. A one-year membership from the Canadian Association of Medical Spas & Aesthetic Surgeons (CAMACS) may also be granted.
